Clubhouse
The Long Beach Casting Club, established in 1925, is a non-profit organization whose objectives are to educate the public about scientific angling; promote interest and efficiency in tournament or contest fly and plug casting; to promote fisheries conservation; and to promote social relations among its members.
Classroom
Classroom. As a teaching club, it’s appropriate that the classroom is the largest space in the Clubhouse. There are classes for all skill levels of fly-tying, rod-building, knot tying and even programs that help scout troops earn fly fishing merit badges. The room features a large-screen TV in the front and monitors along the sides to deliver close-up views to all the work tables. When set up auditorium style, it’s the venue where monthly guest speakers share a wealth of expertise on a variety of fishing topics.
The Front Room
The front room is a comfortable lounge area that’s ideal for trip planning or recalling the big ones that did, or didn’t get away. The focal point is a rustic wood-burning fireplace built with rocks brought back from members’ favorite fishing spots.
The Library
The Library is where hundreds of books and CDs are available on loan on an honor system to members. Anything you want to know about fishing can usually be found here.
The Kitchen
The kitchen’s commercial-style stove with flat top and dual ovens turns out great breakfasts, lunches or dinners as the occasion requires. Most notable meals are prime rib roasts served at the annual Christmas banquet.
The Front Porch
The front porch is a favorite spot to gather and solve the problems of the world. Overlooking the casting pond, on any given day you might find skill levels ranging from beginners to master casters.
The Pond
The pond is the venue for regional and national casting tournaments including two-handed spey. It’s a perfect spot to learn, practice or teach. Lights extend the usage into the night to make it easier to earn bronze, silver or gold medals for the newly-introduced FFI Improving Casting Skills Program. It’s the place to improve your game. Yes, good casters catch more fish.
